Seabury, a self described life care community, with over 160 independent living apartments and a 60 bed skilled nursing unit, suffered extensive damage on July 29, 2009 at approximately 10:00pm when fire broke out in a recreation area of the building. The areas damaged included the indoor pool, fitness center and library. No living units were affected by fire, although several sustained water damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and area of fire origin is believed to be a mechanical area supporting the pool. No injuries were reported.
We were assisted by the Bloomfield Center and Windsor Fire Departments. The Bloomfield Police, Bloomfield Volunteer Ambulance, and Seabury staff assisted in the evacuation and care of the residents.
